Introducing Pakenham Uniting Church
Pakenham Uniting Church is a congregation of the Uniting Church in Australia located 55km south east of the Melbourne city centre.
We are a diverse community of Christians who draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Jesus.
We meet on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri and Bunrong people of the Kulin nation. We respect the close spiritual and cultural ties of Australia’s first peoples to the land, and pay our respects to their elders, past, present and emerging. We are committed to working for reconciliation with indigenous people and justice for all
WE BELIEVE
Jesus has shown us what a life centred in God is like.
Jesus’ life and teachings found in the Bible are central to all we seek to do.
Jesus has shown us that God seeks peace and unity for the whole creation.
WHEN WE GATHER
Our worship services include prayers, music, and reflection on Bible passages and what they teach us about who Jesus is for us today.
We encourage children to participate in our worship services and recognise the insights they have.
OUR PRAYER
Our prayer is that people may know the power of Jesus’ love in their lives.
Our Mural
Our mural, which can be found on the Main Street church frontage, is a metaphor of hospitality and an expression of the call to love God and to love our neighbour as ourselves. Enveloped in the mural is a dove the symbol of the Spirit of Peace, the first peoples signified by the symbol of the Eagle, and various symbols representing some of the other faiths in our community. These are woven into the vibrant rainbow coloured rope depicting the ‘many colours, one people’ who together comprise our community here in Pakenham.
